Congratulations to Jason Greene the winner of the Hort Fert Young Achiever competition. Jason is the sales manager of Rainbow Trees in Auckland and will represent the nursery sector at the Grand Final.
Jason (25), is the sales and distribution manager at Rainbow Trees, South Auckland. This is a 16-hectare wholesale nursery, specialising in the production of large trees and specimen grades of a wide range of ornamental plants grown in containers and easy lift bags. With his four staff Jason supplies landscapers, garden centres and local authorities throughout the country with exotics and natives from the company’s 70,000 tree bank.
Originally from Taupo, Jason credits his choice of career to the enthusiastic encouragement of his high school science teacher. He graduated from Massey University, Palmerston North, with an Applied Science degree and started to work at Rainbow Trees soon after.
Ultimately Jason would like to have his own nursery and although he is happy to stay in New Zealand he would look at all opportunities. He says he is very much a ‘hands-on, out-doors’ person but finds it difficult, with a baby son, to find time for his other passions, extreme sports and rock climbing.
