Workplace Assessor
In order to have a trainee or apprentice with the NZHITO you will need to become a registered workplace assessor.
Becoming a workplace assessor
To assess a trainees competency each workplace needs to have a registered workplace assessor. For this to happen either the employer or a designated member of staff must meet the NZHITO workplace assessor criteria.
What is the workplace assessor criteria?
To assess unit standards up to level 4, all teaching staff and workplace assessors must hold (or be working towards) a relevant qualification of at least the level of the unit standards which they assess, or have eight years relevant industry experience*.
Training and induction to become a NZHITO registered workplace assessor is arranged through your NZHITO regional office.
Then what happens?
After meeting the assessor criteria and upon the completion of the NZHITO workplace assessor training, you will be issued a certificate with your own registration number on it. This number will need to be used when you make assessment decisions about your trainees competency.
