Arboriculture Review
A review of the Arboriculture domain has been taking place over the last 18 months, the unit standards and qualifications are being reviewed as part of this process. At this time we are seeking feedback on the proposed changes to the unit standards.
The proposed unit standards have been developed based on industry feedback and the results of consultation with: the NZAA Education and Training, regional Arboriculture meetings through out New Zealand, two national conferences, and NZHITO review.

The following arboriculture unit standards have been reviewed, and have had changes made to them in line with recommendations made during the review process:

The following are the proposed new unit standards to the arboriculture domain as a result of the review process:

Arb1 - Use a Brushwood Chipper, Level 3, Credit 4

Arb2 - Demonstrate Knowledge of Tree Support Systems, Level 4, Credit 5

Arb3 - Use a Stump Grinder, Level 3, Credit 4

Arb5 - Advanced tree climbing for Arborists, Level 4, Credit 10
-
Arb6 - Use advanced rigging in tree work, Level 4, Credit 10
-
Arb7 - Assess a site for amenity trees and select trees, Level 3, Credit 8
Note: Arb1 and Arb3 will replace unit standard 17260 "Use a brush chipper and stump grinder", while Arb7 will replace unit standards 2770 and 2819
