Qualification Review - Completed November 2007
The NZHITO has developed a Postharvest strand endorsement for the National Certificate in Horticulture (Level 4) and the National Certificate in Horticulture (Advanced) (Level 4). The Garden Retail domain has been removed from the Nursery Production strand as a result of the Retail ITO assuming control of this domain. There has also been an extension to the unit standards that can count towards the Pest Management elective of the Advanced certificates, the additional unit standards allowed for this version of the qualification are listed on the qualifications document.
Postharvest Review (Part 2) - Completed July 2007
The NZHITO has completed a review focusing on horticultural postharvest activities, as a result of this review we have written 11 new unit standards for use in postharvest and horticultural operations. Two of the new unit standards replace existing unit standards 3020 & 3024. The new unit standards have been registered in production horticulture domain.
Postharvest Review (Part 1) - Completed October 2006
The NZHITO has completed the review and reclassification of some postharvest related unit standards effecting some units in the following domains; Floriculture, Fruit Production, Vegetable Production. As a result of the review some of the packhouse orientated unit standards have been combined and rewritten into generic postharvest unit standards, these new and reviewed unit standards have been moved into the production horticulture domain.
Organic Horticulture Review - Completed October 2006
The NZHITO has completed the review into the organic horticulture unit standards and domain. As a result of this review the organic horticulture domain is now lapsing and the reviewed organic horticulture unit standards are moving into the production horticulture domain.
Landscape Review - Completed September 2006
The NZHITO has completed a review of the unit standards for Landscape domain carried out during 2005-2006. The attached review report shows the changes that were made to the unit standards and what new unit standards have been adopted. Effected unit standards include: 991-1006, 1008-1018, 1020-1029, 2442, 12399-12401, 12479-12496
Production Horticulture Review - July 2006
The NZHITO has completed the review of the following list of unit standards from within the Production Horticulture domain; 1, 4, 14, 19, 21, 27, 33-35, 44, 50, 771, 772, 778, 779, 782-785, 789, 790, 793-802, 812, 829, 838, 1062, 2799-2817, 2865, 12395, 12396
Fruit Production Review - July 2005
The NZHITO has completed a review of the Fruit Production unit standards. This includes; the development of eight new fruit production unit standards, and the review of fourteen existing fruit production unit standards.
Amenity Horticulture Review - July 2005
The NZHITO has completed a review of the Amenity Horticulture unit standards. Resulting in; the development of six replacement unit standards, the development of two new units standards, the expiry of one unit standard and revision of four existing unit standards.
Pest Management Review - May 2005
The Agriculture ITO has completed a review of Agrichemical Distribution, Aerial Agrichemical Application. Part of this review has seen the NZHITO review the Pest Control unit standards as a result of the review there has been a change of ownership of some Production Horticulture and all the Pest Control unit standards.
